Snow days and pneumonia scare

As I said on my Sunday post, we got about 10 inches of snow over Thursday and Friday. That made driving interesting, so we mostly just stayed at home. Lots of things were cancelled anyway. We played in the snow a few times and I tried to be creative with things to do inside. Ruby watched her first full movie. Well, kind of. She played a lot during it.

Here she's organizing coins from my purse into boxes. Then she said, "I need a dollar."

She mostly took off her jammies, but didn't want to take off her boots so the feet stayed on. :)

And then she wore her boots most of the day.

Knee deep in the snow on Friday. It was super powdery, so we couldn't really throw snowballs or build a snow man.

 Cutie pie.

Watching Toy Story with Woody. This was the beginning of the movie.

And then she went and played a lot, and this was at the very end. She just wanted to cuddle with Mommy. :)

Super deep snow (for this area)!

Her cute little pony tail.

 Reading stories.

Making Valentine's. She loves the glue sticks.

We ventured out on Saturday to see the baby chicks at Wilco and get some groceries at Safeway.

Then on Saturday night we went to the Butenschoen's house and slipped and slid all the way there. When we got there, Andy decided to put the chains on so we could get home over the hill. Thank goodness he did or we wouldn't have made it home. Ruby liked to play with their toys while the Bute kids all ran around while Andy jumped out at them.

She likes to drink the milk out of her bowl when she's done with her cereal.

The chickens hated the snow, but finally decided to venture out on Sunday. Then they went right back in their coop.

Church was cancelled because of all the ice. So Andy told Ruby the parable of the farmer with the different soil with Legos. It was pretty cute.

 Silly Ruby.

We decided to make ravioli from scratch (challenged to a competition by Tony). It turned out amazing.

 So delicious.

Beautiful view from the church parking lot.

 Reading a story with Daddy.

 And napping with Daddy.

 Kind of...

 Again, silly Ruby.

I took Ruby to see Dr. Guesly on Tuesday for her 2-year appointment, and he was worried about her chest congestion. And she also had a little ear infection. So we got sent to get her a chest x-ray to see if it was walking pneumonia.

 Waiting for the x-ray.

She got strapped in, but she did really really good. I couldn't be in there with her because I'm pregnant, but she did fine by herself. She didn't cry or fuss at all.

It was still hard to watch.

She got all kinds of goodies... a sticker, a bracelet, a slinky, bouncy balls, and a slap bracelet.
The x-ray came back fine, so we decided not to do antibiotics unless she develops a fever. I want her to be able to fight off infections by herself, especially since she doesn't seem to be in too much pain. So we did a breathing treatment to open up her lungs a little bit. She did really good with that too.

An hour and a half later we finally made it home. We ate lunch quick, and she sacked out until 4:00 when I had to wake her up. So cute. She seems to be feeling better every day, and her cough has definitely gotten better. I got some homeopathic remedies today, so we're trying those too. I have to take her back in after 10 days to check her ear, and when she's all better, we have to go back to get her Hep A and B shots which we postponed.

She loves these jammies. And she's having so much fun building Legos.

She carries her little table and chairs all over the house.

We saw a worm crawling across our driveway, and she wanted to stop and look at it. She said, "Ruby bend down low."

Making more valentine's. She loves doing crafts.

27 weeks

I'm 2/3 of the way through this pregnancy! Yay! We can't wait to meet this new little baby in about 3 months. It's almost 2 pounds now and getting nice and heavy. I can kind of feel body parts now, like a foot or a head or something. I'm not really sure what. :)

Sleep has been going a little better for me lately. I only got up one time to use the bathroom last night, and once or twice more to turn over. The Olympics are currently going on, so I've been staying up a little too late. Maybe that helps me sleep better though. I'm still napping every day for about 30-40 minutes, and that is so nice.

I've been all into keeping our house clean. Organizing drawers, figuring out cleaning routines, etc. I'm afraid that will all change once the baby comes, but it's so nice now. This weekend we had a big snow storm (10 inches!) and then ice on top of it. So we've been kind of home bound. Church was cancelled today. We made ravioli and didn't go anywhere. I'm getting a little stir crazy, so hopefully it will melt soon and we'll be able to get out.

Next week we're going to go through our relaxation practices from our birth class last time. I think that will help prepare for labor again. I haven't been walking as much this time, but I'm way more active instead of sitting in a chair at work all day. So hopefully that will be enough. I'll start walking more once it warms up a little outside. Ruby really likes going on walks.

Changes this week: I've been having tons of Braxton Hicks. Hopefully that means that when the time comes, the baby will just fall out. :)

Cravings this week: Nothing really. Milk, I guess. I always crave milk.

Snow!

This is Ruby in my sister's shirt she had when she was little. Go Huskers. :)
We had a pretty good week this week, aside from Ruby getting a cold on top of her cold. :( She's got a dry cough that won't go away, and on Monday she got super snotty again, right when she was seeming to get better. Poor girl. She has done really well without her paci though. She asked for it for about one day at bed and nap, but then did really well after that. Naps were a little hard to get her to sleep for a few days, but now she does great. I'm glad it was so easy!
Ruby has this thing where we think she is scared of things. If I tell her to go to her room to get something or put something away, sometimes she shakes her head and says, "baby shark" and I think she's scared of it. So I moved baby shark (her shark towel) to the bathroom and that seems to be fine. I wonder if she had a bad dream about it or something.
One of my current favorite things is that she will say something like, "Ruby go outside because Mommy go outside." Often times she says because, and the second part of the sentence doesn't even go with the first part. It's so cute. She also says, "I think so might be in Ruby's bedroom" when I ask her to find something. And then she says, "Just a second," or "Be right back."

On Friday Ruby woke up from her nap really early and was obviously not done sleeping. So Andy brought her out to me and I laid down with her on the couch while she finished sleeping. It was so precious.

This is right after she woke up. She always says, "Ruby awake."

Snuggles with Mommy.

 Some new silky jammies.

Playing with her kitchen in the morning.

On Saturday we had some friends over for dinner, so I made Carnitas with homemade salsa fresca, refried beans and guacamole. It was so good.

We apparently don't have enough volunteers in our nursery currently, so Ruby sat in church with us on Sunday. Karley and Penny were with their parents too. Starting this next week she can go into the class above though, so that will be nice. We want to have her with us in church eventually, but it would be nice if that could be when she's 3 or 4 instead of 2. :)

She did really well though. She had lots of fun with an activity book thing my Mom made when we were little. So she brought it to us filled with fun coloring things, and that kept Ruby occupied really well.

We went to the high school super bowl party after her nap, and she had fun. She stared at the tv for about the first 30 minutes (we don't watch much tv, and this one was pretty huge), and then she wanted to play.

 Lounging.

On Monday we went to see some baby lambs at a farm of some people from our church. They were so cute! We had to duck under a tree while some huge hail came down.

This one was born that morning, and it's umbilical cord was still wet. It was all wobbly and cute!

These little twins were adorable. Ruby loved them and called them "baby lambies."

We got a new memory foam rug for our kitchen (to help my feet) and Ruby likes to go stand on it and say, "feel funny."

Andy came home on Tuesday with flowers for me and a balloon for Ruby. <3

Ruby got some new toys in the mail from Uncle Randy for her birthday. She has fun with them.

Ruby loves her little sibling, "Baby Heartbeat."

We had a little dinner party yesterday.

This is how she waits for Daddy sometimes. So cute.

Styling with her skinny jeans, boots and scarf.

 What a cutie.

We woke up this morning to a light dusting of snow, and then it continued to snow all day! We have about 5 inches right now and more is expected tonight and tomorrow. Ruby was supposed to go to the dentist this morning, but we cancelled because of the snow. Apparently there was a 20 car pile-up on the freeway near Albany, and we didn't want to risk being in something like that. So we had a fun day at home (and a coffee date to Starbucks).
Ruby got a 1/2 pump vanilla steamer and loved it!

We sat for a long time while we had our drinks. It was a ton of fun.

We'll have to do it again! I love my girl.

She had lots of fun with this cash box and some coins this afternoon. Then she said, "I need a dollar."

We made the bed, and Ruby always likes to pretend to take a nap when we do.

All ready to go out in the snow!

 She loves measuring the snow.

We went in after about 5-10 minutes because I was cold. She was way more bundled than I was and had lots of fun. I had to carry her though, because the snow was about up to her knees. I had her walk behind me for a little bit, and she liked that. So fun.

26 weeks

This week we get into the 3rd trimester! The end is starting to come into sight. I can't wait to meet this new little guy/girl. It's been really active, which is super fun. I feel little feet a lot. Ruby puts her hand on my stomach and says, "Feel baby!" but she really doesn't. Hopefully she will soon though. Andy likes to feel it squirm.

The baby is almost 2 pounds by now. I'm starting to think about all of the stuff I have to do still before it arrives, like go through all of our baby clothes, wash the diapers, figure out where it will sleep, etc. Becca and Janelle are throwing me a baby shower in April, so that will be fun. I can't wait. I'm really starting to get uncomfortable lately. Sometimes I just want to unstrap my belly for a little while, but I can't. I will be done soon enough though, and I have to keep reminding myself that I'll only do this a few times and I should enjoy it.

Changes this week: My feet were a little swollen after we threw Ruby's birthday party. I was on my feet most of that day, so that's probably why. Not much other than that. I've been sleeping pretty well except for waking up at 6 or 6:30 every morning.

Cravings this week: I got my donut on Wednesday and it was delicious. I have to be honest, sometimes I crave corn dogs, but I haven't eaten any. :)
