A trip to the beach

Week of 8/7-8/13
We had a fun week, starting to get ready for school to start and for the summer to end. Andy took off work on Friday so we headed to the beach for a fun day at Seaside. We had such a good time!
We made whipped cream for a rolled blackberry cake for dinner at a friend's house. Mmmmm
 Library time!
I started growing my own Scoby for Kombucha, and it's doing well!
We met some friends at a splash pad on Thursday.
The kids had so much fun. Miles was loving it, and I had to chase him around the whole time.
We ate the free lunch at the park and played for a little bit too.
Dancing time! We have a lot of living room dance parties.
It was a little chilly when we got to Seaside, but we were prepared for it. There was a huge volleyball tournament happening (like probably 50 nets), but we went around it and found a great spot.
Miles liked sitting in his chair for a while and was very wary of the sand.
Andy and the kids started digging, as usual.
 Me and my littlest.
 The ocean was cold!
 Family photo.
Miles got his courage and tried walking in the sand, and then didn't stop! I'm so loving the stage we're at right now, I can get in and play with the kids instead of just holding the baby. It is SO much fun.
Kite flying, one of our favorite beach pastimes.
Snack time! It was hard to keep Miles from eating the snacks that fell on the sand.
Andy found this big dead crab, and they named it "Mr. Sandy Bottom." They made a throne for it. Hahaha!
 Boys and their equipment.
 Reid made a big circle.
We made a road for the dump truck.
 Working hard!
Writing her name in the sand.
<3 Oh Ruby, you are so precious.
We got a pizza at Fultano's for lunch and played this fun whale race at the arcade. Then we walked around Seaside for a little bit and headed home!
Miles and Reid both fell asleep in the car.
And Ruby fell asleep reading that night at bed time.
Andy taught Ruby Forbidden Island, which she loves.
Hahaha, double forks. We've been getting peaches at the Farmer's Market and they are SO good.
On Saturday afternoon I met some friends for pedicures, it was lovely. Miles liked my toes when I got home.
We rode the shuttle on the way to church.
 Silly Miles, stealing Ruby's purse.
Reid spread blankets out all over the living room. He is so funny.
And then he wanted me to wrap him up and carry him like a baby. He's heavy! 43 pounds I think.
They were a little crazy after dinner, so we busted out some coloring pages. That always helps.
So cute. We need to work on writing his name before preschool starts.
I took the kids and met some friends at the Children's Museum.
 Reid loved the stage.
They played a long time in the rock area. Miles loved it!
 Playing dentist.
They all love the water area too.
More sword fighting!

Milestones

I'm still a little behind! But the first week of the month Miles turned 15 months and Ruby moved from a 5 point harness to a booster car seat. She was so excited and proud, she told everyone she talked to that whole week.
I started growing a SCOBY to brew Kombucha (fermented tea). We'll see how it turns out!
The big kids have been a big help at the grocery store.
 Playing with boxes!
We surprised Andy with a fun trip to Washington Park after his work and met him with a pizza picnic. It was so fun! Ruby loved climbing on top of the slide.
 Picnic time!
 Miles loves to swing.
He's learning to use a spoon... he loves it, but it sure is messy.
They made a rocket ship in the kitchen and played in it for a long time.
Playing with the phones in line at Fred Meyer.
Miles had his 15 month checkup! He's doing really well, he's quite tall and a little on the thinner side (still above 50th percentile for weight though). Our doctor just moved to a new office and it's really nice.
Playing doctor while we waited. They all had broken legs.
15 month photo! He got some shots, but he did really well and hardly cried.
 Bike ride!
 They built "baby mountain."
Ruby likes shopping. Hahaha She's so cute.
The special kid carts at Target fit all the kids!
Enjoying the free lunch time picnic in the park, thanks to the Beaverton School District.
Snuggling while they watch an afternoon show.
 Playing "tractor."
He has been trying to escape with my keys.
The kids were making "fairy dust" outside with the chalk.
We made these delicious ice cream sandwiches, they were seriously good.
Ruby got some new eye makeup and loves it. Hahaha I love these three.
We played "school." The kids got their back packs all ready (complete with play food) and we did all kinds of school things, like writing their name, singing time, learning letters, story time, etc.
Home Community is so fun! We go most Fridays and spend time with some great friends/families.
Our big girl in her booster! She's doing really well sitting correctly in it.
 Mmmmmmmmm
 Hall Ball!
Three kids, three different car seat setups. Reid likes being in the middle now.
 Bed time snuggles.
Reid made this rocket ship and taped it to the table.
Music time! I got my uke out too.
 Hahahaha
We took our bikes to our friends' house and rode over to the park nearby.
 It was so fun!
Then we ate lunch at their house. How cute are they?!
 Oh Ruby...
The boys have been sword fighting with wooden spoons. Reminds me of when I was a kid and Dad made us wooden swords. :)
