16 Months

Ruby turned 16 months old on Sunday. Isn't she cute? :) She's feeling tons better this week, and her cold is mostly gone. She still gets snotty a bit and has a little cough though. She shared her cold with me, but Andy hasn't gotten it, thankfully. He's been really sweet about taking care of us, but he's also been very very busy with work this month. It will slow down once summer hits, I hope.
 What a funny pillow.
She kept asking me for "hep" and wanted the lid on, and then off, and then on, etc. over and over :)
She woke up crying from a really short nap one day, so I snuggled with her on the chair while she slept some more. So sweet.
On Monday we went to look at the pretty Iris gardens.
 Lounging in her stroller.
These keys don't work on this.
Her monthly photo sessions are getting interesting, because everything's a game now and she just wants to get up and run around most of the time.
All three of us with matching shoes.
She likes to climb inside of things.
And sit/stand on top of things.
 Combing Daddy's beard.
You would think this hurts her teeth...
She found my notebook and a pencil, and knew just what to do with it.
"I'm ready to take notes, Mommy."
 Our photo strip.
She likes to put things over her head. It gets entertaining when I'm sorting laundry and she has my tank tops on. :)

Another cold

It's been a pretty low key week for us. We went on a date on Saturday night and left Ruby at home with Janna and Abbie. They had fun, we had fun, it was great. Andy went on a pastor's retreat Monday and Tuesday, so Ruby and I just hung out. We went to our friends' house Monday night for a birthday party, and one of the kids had a cold... needless to say Ruby caught it and started getting sick yesterday. I hate when she's sick. She seems to feel okay during the days, but she sleeps horribly at night because she can't breathe out of her nose. Poor baby.
One of my favorite things that Ruby has started doing is clasping her hands under her chin while we're eating and saying "Amen!" It's too cute. She has really started to climb on things this week too. And she's good at opening our bedroom door, so there's now a baby gate in the hallway to our room since it's really not baby proof in there. She's just as curious as ever. She has also started saying "thank you" for everything. We're not actually sure if it's "thank you" or "there you go." :)
At a different birthday party Friday night, hanging out with the older girls on the trampoline. She loves Abbie (on the right).

Fort building and harmonica playing with Janna on Saturday night.
I was cooking on Sunday, and Ruby put both hands behind her back and was just walking back and forth in the kitchen like that. Hilarious.
And then she put a bunch of her disposable diapers in the laundry hamper.
 Lounging at breakfast.
At the party on Monday night. She played soccer in the back yard with the big kids for a long time and had lots of fun.
Playing trains with the big boys.
 Playdough time.
Making faces with Mommy. She copied me on all except the fishy face. I copied her :)
Eating lunch with her friend Quinn.
Helping Mommy in the kitchen! My dream come true.

Mother's Day

This week was Mother's Day. We had a nice time at Tony and Courtney's house with the whole Pullen family. Ruby didn't take a nap though until we were on our way home at like 4pm. Poor girl, she was pretty tired. Andy gave me a very sweet card from him and Ruby <3. I just love being her mommy so much, she's lots of fun. This week she's been trying all kinds of new things. In one day she unlocked the front door lock on the knob, and opened the cabinet with the garbage in the kitchen (the one with the baby proof lock :). She's so good at watching you do something and then trying it herself, both with actions and saying words. She learns new words almost every day. This morning she was stacking my salad spinner and then knocking it over and laughing.
Ruby's also been on a bit of a weird trend with eating. She wants to feed herself, but she makes a huge mess with a spoon and yogurt or applesauce and not much of it gets in her mouth. She gets really upset when we try to feed her, and lots of her food ends up on the floor. Sometimes she just won't eat much at all, and just throws her food on the floor. It's frustrating for all of us, and hopefully it's just a phase that goes away quickly.
She's been sleeping okay this week. One night she slept from 7:15pm to 5am straight! It was so nice to get a long stretch of sleep myself. I hope she does that some more soon. Her one nap in the afternoon has been really nice too. Sometimes she sleeps for 3+ hours, and I can get a lot of stuff done or just rest.
This is one of my favorite looks she gives. :)
Kiss! This is our friends' the Garrison's son Elijah. He's about 2 1/2 months older than Ruby.
 So sweet.

 Bath time.
 Crazy hair after bath time.
Driving her friend Karley's car. She couldn't really make it go, but had fun anyway.
 Peach.
 Riding her bike with Daddy.
Andy wrapped her sheep thing around her, and it was hilarious. She kept running up and down the hallway.
She crawled in and sat down with Daddy.

Beach trip

We had a fun week. Ruby's been learning new words every day at a very fast rate. When people meet her and she talks to them, they are usually surprised at how verbal she is. I love how much she understands and can communicate. We went to the beach on Monday with Janna and Brandon to check out Dunes Bible Camp, which was tons of fun. Ruby loved the beach and did great on the drive.

Yesterday Ruby learned how to climb up on the couch all by herself. She was pretty excited about that. She's also really good at putting her stacking ring thing together.
We ate black beans for dinner.
We went for a walk with Aunt Becca and the dogs she's housesitting for.
 Ruby loved/hated the dogs.
 A little too close...
 Walk in the park!
Getting her hair combed by Daddy.
 Ketchup and mustard.
 Playing with her new puzzle.
Nap on the way to the beach.
 Dunes Bible Camp
She really liked walking in the sand.
 And drawing in the sand.
 She loves sticks.
 Ruby!
 Precious.
 Yay!
She got pretty sandy, but thankfully it came right off.
Hanging out at Adelaide's coffee and book store.
 Playing with Janna.
 On the way home.
We saw a bunch of sea lions in Astoria.
The view from the top of the Astoria Column. We threw balsa wood airplanes off of it.
Climbing back down from the top of the Astoria Column. I think there were about 160 steps around and around...
Reading the menu, "I think I'll have this one."
She loves standing on things, especially books.
Playing at the park in the gorgeous weather yesterday.
Here's a cute video of Ruby walking in the sand.
And one of her climbing on the couch.
