21 weeks

Sorry I'm a day late posting this! We've had a crazy busy week for sure. The baby's about 3/4 of a pound now, and I've been feeling it kick a lot in the last few days. Andy felt it move for sure last night, which was so fun. It's been kicking really low down, so I'm wondering if my placenta is up higher and in the front. That would be fine, I'd just feel less movement there (which I do).

I've been sleeping a little better, no insomnia this week, but I've been also getting more uncomfortable. I got out my pregnancy pillow today, so hopefully that will help my hips. My boss/friend Janna got me a gift certificate for a prenatal massage for Christmas! I'm so excited. I'm sure it will be wonderful and will help the tension headaches I've had occasionally. My upper back and neck have been super tight. I can't wait.

I've been a little worried recently because I've been feeling a little pressure way down low, but at this point I'm pretty sure it's just increased blood circulation. I'll ask the midwife when I go on Friday.

Changes this week: Pressure, still tired all the time, but feeling good otherwise.

Cravings this week: Healthy food. Veggies, fruits, I'm not really craving sugar much at all.

Sick baby, Christmas, and 23 months

It's been a very busy week! This is Ruby's 23 month photo which I took at my parents' house the day after Christmas. I can't believe it's only one month until her 2nd birthday. She's so fun. It's always exciting to hear what she has to say. She can count to 10 really well, and the letters she knows are "a, b, c, d, r, u, y, x." But she only knows how to say them, and doesn't recognize them yet. She can sing most of Jesus Loves Me and several other songs. This morning she was feeding my mom's cat and said, "Come ewe, Midnight." She really knows what's going on and is very concerned with whose is whose. She always tells us whose plate belongs to whom, chair, spot on the couch, water, etc.
She loves doing puzzles and is really good at them.
Shopping for some fabric for a pillow case.
On Friday night Ruby woke up throwing up, and then threw up every 1.5-2 hours the rest of the night, so 4 times total. It was so sad. The last time I went in there, she said, "Oh no" before she threw up. :( But she got through it, and this is her eating breakfast on Saturday. She felt fine aside from a little cold after that. Andy and I would both get up, and he would change the sheets, then rock her, and I would change her jambes, then start another load of laundry. We were pretty tired on Saturday, but thankfully we didn't have anything planned.
 Opening an early Christmas present.
All dressed up for church on the Sunday before Christmas.
 Ruby with Daddy at church.
We were practicing our baby wearing. So sweet.
 Love.
 Silly girl.
She loves pulling her rocking chair up to the Christmas tree and looking at the ornaments.
She climbed up all by herself...
Daddy said, "Sit up straight," so she did.
 Playing "asleep, awake."
Watching the trash truck at the church.
 Trying to diaper her dollies.
Playing with her friends Karley and Penny at our traditional Christmas Eve brunch.
Napping on the way to my parents' house.
Doing the advent with Uncle Randy.
Christmas Eve service. She went up for the Children's Moment with Grandma.
Daddy reading the Christmas story on Christmas morning.
 Cuddling with Grandpa.
Opening her first gift. It was a wooden duck made by my dad.
She loves her new doll stroller!
Christmas breakfast at my sister's house in Medford.
 Ruby with her stocking.
The morning's festivities wore her out! (And me too.)
Playing with Fiona (one of my sister's day care kids).
This morning at my parents' house. She was being silly.
We finally made it home today! Here's Ruby helping us make Frittata in my new Le Creuset skillet.
Playing hide-and-seek in Daddy's new office.

20 Weeks

We're half way there!! Woohoo! We can't wait to meet our new little bean. It still seems like so far away, but I'm sure it will go quickly. We have our next midwife appointment in a week and a half because of Christmas and New Years coming up on Wednesdays (the day they're at their Salem office). But I think things are going well, so I'm fine waiting.

I've been feeling the baby move, but I don't think it moves as much as Ruby did. She was very active, and this one will move a little, then not move for a while. Andy felt Ruby move at this point, but I don't think he'll be able to feel this one yet. He tried last night, and it would kick once then not kick again. I can't wait for Andy and Ruby to feel it too.

I started a Target registry since we're having a baby shower. There's not really that much stuff that we need. There are a few things I didn't get last time around that I registered for. And we need refreshers of things like paci's and wash cloths and things. It's nice now that I know what I need for sure. :)

Changes this week: Sleeping is starting to get uncomfortable. I think I'll get my pregnancy pillow out when we get back from Christmas.

Cravings this week: Sourdough toast and cinnamon rolls. They were both delicious. And dark chocolate, as always. :)

In the news

Ruby and I made it in the Stayton Mail this week at Story Time! Her picture was on the web version (here), and they talked about us and quoted me on the web and in the real paper. Too fun. Andy went out last night and bought a copy for us to keep. The library lady (Casle) thinks Ruby is "the perfect child." She's not perfect, but she is pretty great and very well behaved, for the most part.
It's been a good week. We've been keeping very busy. On Saturday we went up to Portland and dropped Ruby off with Grandma and Grandpa so we could see the Hobbit. Other things this week were some shopping, Mops, things at the library, and having a friend over today.
Ruby has been sleeping completely through the night consistently! It's so nice to have that happening. And we successfully cut out the nap time nursing on Sunday, so we're just down to bed time. I think we'll cut that out after Christmas and then be done. I'm happy/sad about it at the same time.
Boot shopping at the mall with a toddler is not so easy. This is Ruby's aftermath.
We ate lunch at Bridgeport Village on Saturday. This is Ruby watching a puppet show.
Sunday night we got all dressed up for the high school Black Tie Christmas party. We just went to a little bit of it. A lot of the high schoolers wore a tie (even girls), because I don't think they really knew what Black Tie means. So funny.
 Squishy cheeks.
Ruby found a new way to play the piano. She likes when I play Jingle Bells and tries to play it herself.
Andy took Ruby to Motion Monday at the library while I went grocery shopping and returned the boots that I ended up not liking from Friday's shopping trip. She had lots of fun with her friends.
Ruby got into the game cupboard. This is after we cleaned up a bunch of cards already.
We went to visit people at Norpac on Tuesday. Ruby loves Barbara and Amy the best. And she got to ride on this lamb.
Training for her future receptionist job.
Then we went to visit Daddy who was painting his new office at church and I captured this precious moment. I love these two so much.
Ruby was playing with her crayons and colored a little bit on the dish washer. Then she immediately said, "no" and tried to wipe it off with her finger. So funny. So I had her help me wipe it off with the rag. I'm glad she knows that's not okay to do.

19 Weeks

19 weeks today! Wow, now it seems like this pregnancy is going by fast. I'm really getting big, everyone thinks I'm having twins. We'll just have to wait and see. It would be hard but fun having twins, although I'm not sure how we'd be able to afford everything. We'd need another carseat, a different stroller, another crib, a bigger car, a bigger house, etc. Hah. The Lord provides though, so I'm not too worried.

I've been having horrible insomnia this week. And the last two days I didn't get a nap, which made me super tired. But thankfully today I was able to sleep for 2 hours this afternoon, so I'm much better. I just need a lot of sleep, unfortunately. After I woke up my nap and went to the bathroom, there was pink in the toilet. So naturally I freaked out a little bit until Andy and Becca came home and Becca asked if I'd had any beets. I had a big one for lunch, and it turns out that can make your pee pink. Whew! Silly beets.

Changes this week: On top of insomnia, I've been having a headache for a few days that I can't shake. Huge bummer.

Cravings this week: Not too much. Milk still, and occasionally dark chocolate.

Snow!

It snowed on Friday morning! We had fun watching it come down out the window. And then it stated all week. We still have some on the ground, but it's been drizzling today so it's been turning into slush and water. Our big adventure was that the pipe in our utility room burst a few days ago. I woke up from my nap and found it gushing out of the wall and two inches of water on the floor. I got it turned off and Andy came home to help clean it up. So we were without a washer for a few days, but thankfully it got fixed today and now I have a huge pile of laundry to fold. :) At least it's clean. Poor Andy was out of socks.
Ruby's really been loving to color lately. She constantly looks at me, nodding, and says "coyer." So we color a lot of pictures. She likes for me to trace her hand and mine, and to draw all kinds of things like a big moon, trees, animals, etc.
 It's coming down!
We put our coats and boots on and went for a little walk. It was so quiet and peaceful out there when it was coming down. I love that.
We measured... 2 1/2 inches in just a few hours!
Cuddling inside where it was warm.
She packed up a bunch of sweaters and said she was going to Grandma's house.
 Helping Mommy wrap presents.
 Playing baby with Daddy.
 Cute little girl foot prints.
We made snow flakes to put in the window.
She just loves her baths. She has a shark towel, so every time after the bath we sing "baby shark."
She also loves pretending to go night night in Mommy and Daddy's bed.
 Wearing Daddy's sweatshirt.
We watched You're a Good Man Charlie Brown which Andy won at a white elephant party. She sat through a few minutes of it and then wanted to play. We really don't ever watch tv.
 Reading the Hobbit.
Daddy's belt. At one point she unzipped her sweatshirt and looked like a wrestler with a huge belt buckle. Hah.
She's been wearing one of my gloves around. Too funny.
She loves reading, any time, any place. Even perched up on her scooter.
Daddy explaining Middle Earth to her while she goes potty before a bath. She goes on the potty once every other day or so. She's definitely interested in it.
Story time today with some of her friends. There was a reporter there from the Statesman Journal, so Ruby might be in the newspaper. :)
At the end they always do a craft or an activity. Today's was playing snowball fight!
Getting ready for bed. She's not much of a cuddler, but every once-in-a-while she wants to cuddle and we take full advantage.
