47 weeks: Ruby gets an award and a trip to Grenada

We had a fun week! We finally made it down to Grenada to visit my family, which is always fun. And Ruby got a special award at school. :)
Tuesday was free ice cream cone day at DQ. The kids were so excited.
 Mmmmm
Miles had his first lick of ice cream and loved it!
On Tuesday afternoon we got an email from Ruby's teacher that she was going to get an award at the assembly on Wednesday morning! The theme of the month was Initiative, and she definitely has initiative. :) She talked about it earlier in the month and even prayed that she would "be initiative." Haha.
We surprised her at the assembly, and she was so excited. She had no idea about the award still!
 She was pretty happy.
 And so cute!
Then the boys and I got some work done on our car at Jiffy Lube. Reid had fun doing dry erase.
Frances and Grandma Patty came over Wednesday afternoon. The two babies are so cute together.
 He's so cute!
Reid described this for me to draw while Miles was napping. Hahaha! It is a monster dad and his two kids.
 Clapping!
Ruby drew a map of her classroom for us. She is so cute.
 Zzzzzzzzz
We tried to go to a new park, and lasted only about 2 minutes there. It was freezing cold!
 Brrrrr
 She is SO funny.
On Saturday morning we got up early so Andy could go to a medical exam for life insurance, and then we headed SOUTH to visit my family. :) The kids and I ran into Trader Joe's for snacks while Andy was at his appointment. They are so cute.
 So silly!!
When we got to Grenada, the kids made pinewood derby cars with Grandpa in his shop.
Mom and Miles - she is so helpful with him and all of the kids.
Ruby had fun making her car.
 And then painted it pink.
 Reid's, of course, was blue.
Ruby brought Samantha and made a bed for her.
On Sunday morning the kids went over for Sunday School. Reid was in Grandma's class and loved it!
 Ruby loved her class too.
We all went to church, then afterwards was the Awana Grand Prix! The kids were so excited that they got to do it too. Their cars turned out really cute.
Reid raced with the Cubbies and had so much fun. His car wasn't super fast, even though there were only about 10 cars in his category.
Ruby raced with the Sparkies with about 25 other cars, and hers did really good. Not quite good enough to place though, but I'm pretty sure she got 4th or 5th.
Reid got bored but was having fun with his car.
We left early before it was done, and later learned that Reid's car got 3rd place in design! He was so excited. Hahaha
After the Grand Prix we headed down to Dunsmuir to go on a little hike with Carla's family at Hedge Creek Falls. It was beautiful and so fun!
 Throwing rocks into the water.
Carla and I and our baby boys. They're 17 days apart.
Ruby and David Daniel climbing around on the rocks.
Reid and Mary Anne overlooking the Sacramento River. It was a loooooong way down and made me nervous! We stopped at the Hi-Lo Cafe in Weed for dinner, which was chaotic with 6 little kids. They gave us the whole back room and we made a whole giant mess. Hahaha
Monday morning we headed into Yreka and went to Greenhorn Park to play.
 Dinosaur!!
The kids had fun exploring the old mining equipment.
We fed the ducks and geese from the bridge.
 Our crazy/fun family.
Reid and Grandma got tired out and took a nice long nap.
In the afternoon we walked through town to try to see baby chicks at the Pellet Mill, but they were sold out.
 It was lovely weather though.
Monday night a bunch of our family came over. Miles and Marcus sure were cute!
Miles kept trying to eat the grass over and over.
 Fun in the tub!
It's fun to see them interact.
Reid and Ruby slept on the hide-a-bed in Randy's room. They did good sharing a bed.
Celebrating the late March/April birthdays! Randall and Sophie were there in picture.
Mom, Aunt Mary, and Aunt Jenni volunteered to sit with all of the little kids so we could all sit together with the adult kids. It was so sweet of them! We sure had fun and laughed a lot. :)
And the trip will be continued in the next post...
