Quarantine Week 5: Ruby gets sick

For the week of 4/14-4/20

By week 5 we started to get into the swing of school and all of that. We try to do school in the mornings after breakfast, and have it done by 11-ish. Then we can play for the rest of the day, which is always nice. Mondays tend to be the hardest day. After getting to play all weekend, Reid is pretty resistant to the idea of doing school. And Ruby tends to have a lot of work to do on Mondays. Plus they both have Zoom meetings (4 total between the two of them) on Mondays, and Andy has lots of meetings all day as well. It's a little crazy! By the time we get to Tuesday and beyond, it's better.
We started watching the Lego Masters show, which everyone loved. It was tons of fun!
Doing some yoga for PE.
2nd grade zoom calls
It started warming up nicely, so we played a lot outside! Miles is such a goof.
They love playing with the water and mud.
Chair island.
Miles walked down to get the mail with Andy and fell on the sidewalk. He got pretty scraped up and wanted all of these bandaids, then proceeded to remove them all on the couch. Hah!
Ruby has been having a hard time falling asleep in her room because she says it's too light. So sometimes she falls asleep in our bed and usually makes a pillow fort. :)
Puzzle time!
Miles fell asleep on Ruby. So sweet.
They have made this lovely river in the back yard and play in it almost daily.
My tulips started blooming! They were just so gorgeous.
The boys set up their train tracks in Ruby's room.
Meanwhile, in the middle of the night on Thursday night, Ruby woke up feeling cold. I took her temp, and sure enough she had a fever. Then she ended up throwing up twice. I called the doctor because her symptoms seemed similar to when she had strep. They did a phone appointment and decided we needed a strep test and possibly a COVID test.
Meanwhile, more blooms!
The boys picked her a Camellia. <3
We headed down to the doctor's office at 4pm for her tests.
They decided she did need a COVID test. She did that one first, and apparently it really hurt her nose. :( Then she got the strep test too, which makes her gag. Poor girl! Both tests came back negative though. The doctor thought it was just a random virus, but seriously, where did it come from?? She hadn't been in contact with anyone. She had a fever for three days and then slowly got more energy back. And none of the rest of us got it. I guess we'll never know.
Sweet girl at bed time. She is so, so sweet when she has a fever. <3
Reid's tooth was getting sooooo loose. And his hair was getting soooo long!
He's got these cute loose curls when it gets longer. The boys love to play in the sink.
Hungry for a bite or two of applesauce.
<3
Surprise!
Her head hurt every time she got up. It was so sad. But we had her drinking so much water that she had to use the bathroom frequently. Either we would carry her, or she would crawl to it. :(
They fell asleep together.
Finally by Monday morning Ruby's fever was gone and she felt a lot better! She was still super tired all that week, but able to be up and around more. She made some different shaped paper columns for school and tested how many books they each held. The round one was the best.
Pizza night!
I have no words.
