Quarantine week 4: My birthday and Easter

For the week of 4/7-4/13

We had a fun week! I turned 37, the weather was lovely, we celebrated Jesus, it was great.
Ruby helped make some spaghetti. She's been loving to help cook, which I love too!
Her room had gotten *really* bad. So we pulled everything out from under her bed, dresser, closet, etc. and worked through the pile together. Whew! We keep telling the kids that if they put things away as they take them out, it will be way easier than cleaning up a whole pile of mess.
Reid writing in his journal is the cutest thing.
The kids finally discovered that this thing could take batteries, so we put some in. Then Reid noticed that the speaker holes were dirty so he got out a toothpick and cleaned them out. Hah!
Our butterflies all started hatching! We got to watch a few, which was so fun. One wasn't able to make it to the side so it's wings dried all crumpled up. It was so sad. We put it outside by a flower, and the next morning it was gone. Hoping it somehow survived.
Miles loves "Going on a treasure hunt, x marks the spot..."
Andy got out his HUGE box of Legos and Reid had so much fun.
 Helping water the tulips.
He finally lost a tooth, but the opposite side of the super loose one! That one was just so stubborn. Hah! He was eating a rice cake and it took it out. He was so excited, he ran and got his tooth fairy pillow right away, and then slept on it in the night.
Ruby had an assignment to learn how to juggle. In 7th grade we did juggling for PE, but we sewed bean bags to do it. So I tried and tried to remember how we sewed the bean bags, and I figured it out! I started out WAY too big, then got the right size with the third try. Hah! They were fun to do, and fun to work on our juggling.
The weather was just gorgeous, so we went on a walk up the hill.
Miles made this and put Baby Pluto on it. Hah!
Thursday night while I was doing dishes, Andy and the kids went outside to make a mysterious project for my birthday. They had fun, and our neighbor snapped this picture of them working.
My birthday was Friday! Andy took the day off. We got a picnic lunch all ready and headed down to the Cooper Mountain nature park for a little hike.
It was SO fun and wonderful to be out!
There was a gorgeous view, and our kids were just adorable. Reid and Ruby insisted on bringing their backpacks (and Baby Bunny).
We stopped frequently and everyone sat down and got out water bottles. It was so cute.
 Goof ball!!
This is my new favorite picture. It just encompasses Miles's 2 year old self so well. He's just the cutest/silliest little guy.
We had our two picnic blankets and found a spot in the grass by the parking lot.
It was so nice and warm, and we ate all the food we brought!
Then in the afternoon we released our butterflies! The kids all got to hold them on their hands for a little while before they flew off. Ruby's stayed on her hand for a long time!
Dessert time!! This chocolate torte was one of the desserts we had at our wedding. It was so delicious and very rich. Apparently at our wedding, one of our middle school students ate 5 pieces of it or something and threw up in a trash can. Hah!
We ordered pizza for dinner and then after that our Home Community surprised me with a little drive-by birthday celebration!! It was so fun.
Andy also had arranged a birthday Zoom call with tons of family and friends, which was so cool. It was a little crazy, but fun to see everyones' faces!
My birthday was also Good Friday. We watched our church service on the TV and did communion with the kids. It was really special.
Andy got me these new wine glasses for my bday and we opened some Beaujolais, which was delicious. It was fun to compare the color to the color chart in my Wine Folly book!
Then Saturday morning our church had a parking lot Easter Egg hunt! We drove down there and drove around finding the different eggs on our papers.
We dyed Easter eggs when we got home and didn't break any too badly!
Ruby made this beautiful dark purple one.
Then we went on a color walk! Ruby had my phone, and Reid had Andy's. They each found all of the colors of the rainbow, took pictures, and then we put slide shows together when we got home. It was so fun!
Reid picked all of these pretty flowers for me.
 Easter baskets all ready!
 Miles found his first.
 Reid's was in the cupboard.
It took Ruby a while, but she finally found it in the dryer!
 No-nose chocolate bunny.
Andy had to run lots of church services and all of that, so he was very busy all Easter morning. Everything went really well though and we had I think about 3,000 people attend our three churches' virtual services! After the kids and I watched church, we had fun mixing colors and painting with our new Tempera paint!
Then we did a side-yard Easter egg hunt in the afternoon!
 The kids loved it.
 They're so cute.
 Sorting their goodies.
For Easter dinner we enjoyed some sous vide chicken, mashed potatoes, and green beans. And then left over chocolate torte for dessert.
His hair is getting SO long! Hahaha
It's getting warm enough for the kids to play with water sometimes outside! They absolutely love it. They started out with this huge mud pit, and moved on to make a river in the back yard. Miles always gets soaked and ends up stripped down.
