Winter Break

For the week of 1/1-1/7

All of the kids got sick after we got home from Christmas. Miles just had a very runny nose, but the big kids got a bad cough and Ruby got a fever with it. Miles finally caught the cough the next week and it was bad. :( He got terrible croup and I had to take him to Urgent Care. Thankfully he's fine and has been healthy since he recovered from that. We definitely upped the elderberry syrup lately though. Croup is no fun!

We did have a good winter break in spite of the sickness. We were stuck at home for most of it because we didn't want to share germs, but we did lots of fun activities and had a good time being together. Hopefully next year we'll be able to do our break without being sick... it's been three years of sick after Christmas for us.

Miles has been putting words together! I'm pretty sure the other night as I was putting him to bed he said, "You love me, Mommy." <3 He is just the sweetest, funnest little guy. He's also starting to count and knows most of the numbers to 10.

Reid is doing great in preschool and is starting to read simple sight words! It's so great! He also likes to do math and adding things together.

Ruby got into TAG for reading at school, which is great! She scored in the 99th percentile. She also turned 7 yesterday, but we'll get to that post hopefully soon. :)
Poor sick little baby. The snot is over the top.
We broke up the afternoon by having a nice bath with new blue fizzies that we bought.
 Morning snuggle time.
 Helping Daddy make breakfast.
Ruby got a low grade fever on and off for 4 days. It was the weirdest thing. Thankfully she got better and just had a bad cough for a while after that. When she's sick she loves sitting on the couch eating toast.
 Reading with Daddy.
 Silly boys.
This happened *right* before lunch was ready... And then Reid scooped it all onto the floor, of course.
 Giving sissy some love.
Ruby felt better on and off, and they had some fun with yarn. We definitely did this as kids too.
 Dress up and stories!
I caught them doing this... I thought Ruby was modeling and Reid was pretending he had a camera, but it turned out he was shooting her with a freeze gun. Haha!
Miles loves to play with kitchen things.
 Basket baby.
Reid and I built his new puzzle.
 Taking Sissy's temperature.
They built this huge pile and then Ruby pretended she was the queen and Reid was her servant and got her things. Hah!
Reid was pretending to play video games with Andy's guitar thing.
On Saturday we went out with Andy's siblings to an Escape Room! Our kids went over to Joel and Dana's for dinner and to play.
We escaped with 41 seconds to spare! It was super fun. It has a 37% escape rate, so I was pretty proud of us. I'd definitely do it again.
 Giving Daddy kisses. <3
 Marble running on the table.
Reid got a duplicate of his crane truck in a box of cars from Aunt Becca. He was way excited.
Miles likes to practice using his little potty, although he hasn't actually gone potty in it yet. He says "One, two, three, uggggghhh."
Reid lined his train tracks with his cars. I kept him home from school on Monday because he was still coughing. But he was better after that.

  1. Sorry you go through sickness every Dec/January. Hope that is the end of the winter flu/colds.
